To the City

We left at 8 o'clock this morning to go to The City.  On the way we did things like this...

Reuben would be pleased if you noticed his rock collection on the seat.

Looks like peek-a-boo, but it's really a break from fiercely roaring like a mad dinosaur.

First stop of the day was the Children's Museum.
Rube and I rode the carousel three times.
He looks unsure because I stepped off the carousel to take the picture.

He wanted to ride the tiger for trip #2.

And the lion for the last ride.
Reuben loves to roar, thus the tiger and lion.

We found the big boys playing a Lego Star Wars video game.
Can you tell who's playing?
Not Peter.

Reuben and I continued to explore and found this nook of mirrors.
He thought it was great fun.

Team huddle.
Oof, what if I had six little Reubens, huddling and planning?
My guess is that they would all turn at me and roar.

One of Peter's favorite stops is this Rube Goldberg machine that uses pool balls.
There are four spots for kids to help keep it going.
He has spent a lot of time here.

Maybe you've seen this OK Go video of their Rube Goldberg.
I don't know what the song is about,
but it's super neat to watch.
Click on the link below to watch it fullscreen.
I don't know why part of the screen is off here.

After the museum we met up with several families for a picnic at a park.
All were families who have adopted from Korea.
Reuben did his customary greeting of
"I'm from Korea"
to everyone who looked like they might be Korean too.
The kids had fun playing together
and the adults got to chat and share experiences.
We met three other families who live
about 30 minutes from us.
Yahoo!

Then, onto the international market
to look at the live crabs and get pan dulces, of course.
And Paul decided he needed some oysters.
Not sure what he's going to do with those.
Oh man, do you think they're alive in my fridge?
Do they sell live oysters?
They were right next to the live crabs.
I'll ask Paul to check.

With all our edible international treasures,
(I got some 68 cent avocados - yum)
we scooted 60 minutes to get home,
change clothes, wipe the mud of the boys' faces,
and went to an anniversary party.
Busy, but fun family day.
Early to bed for all
for another active day tomorrow.

we love that video!

I've still never taken Gigi to a children's museum. So need to do that!

Korean adoption picnic sounds great!
