Pig

Hunting.  Lots of people do it out here.  One of those things where I feel like I need to talk to the parents of Peter's friends so I can know that their guns and bows are securely secured before I let him go over to play at their house.

Jeremy and Sean, friends of ours in town, spent the weekend in Tennessee on a wild boar hunt.  They each caught one with their bows and brought the meat home to eat.  Jeremy and Reuben are good buddies and he gave Reuben some of the sausage they made.

The package says, "For Reuben.  Jeremy's Wild Hog Sausage"

He couldn't wait to eat it this morning.
He got it out of the fridge and put it right in the microwave,
like this is what he does every morning.
(We never have sausage.)

Paul took over the cooking
and shaped it into patties and cooked it in the skillet.

Yum.

It tasted fine.
We ate it with homemade rolls and fruit salad.
But as I was finishing mine I started thinking about it too much.
How do they know it didn't have some funky disease?
Any disease, really?
Oh man, they're super hairy beasts.
Did hair get mixed in?
Jeremy showed us a picture of his catch and it was ugly.
Ugly.

It digests better when you turn off your brain.

Reuben was thrilled and we all got to try something new.
