How Julia Child Changed My Life

You drop it into swirling hot water then it folds over itself and in a few moments you have a creamy warm helping of goodness - a poached egg.  The very first I'd ever tasted.

Have you ever been influenced by a movie?  So influenced that you actually do some thing as a result of watching it?  Someone in this household was so moved by Julie and Julia that he opened his grandmother's old Better Homes and Garden Cookbook and learned how to poach an egg.

Yum.

I had mine sans bread, just a dash of salt while enjoying a second viewing of Julie and Julia.

We may soon be patting our meat dry so "it will brown properly" and wearing pearls in the kitchen.  He can do the meat and I'll take the pearls.

*And you should try his key lime pie.  Super yum.  But not today.  It's too cold to properly enjoy a chilled desert.

I *loved* the movie. So inspiring and heartwearming!! Don't bother with the book though. The real Julie Powell is much less likeable then the movie-version. I would like to eventually read Julia Child's memoir though!

I love poached eggs!! My mom used to make them for me when I didn't feel good. They even have poached egg containers that make one in the microwave. Somehow mine don't taste as good as my mom used to make me.
