February 20th
Today...
...our homestudy expires. Which is only pertinent if we were going to adopt again right away. Which, apparently, we're not. But, still a bit of a loss as now we have to start ALL OVER if adoption were to re-enter our world. So many orphans still.
...is the day we first met Reuben, in Korea, five years ago. Little bitty five-month-old Reuben who cried and cried and cried. He's okay now.
...we are going swimming at an indoor pool. Because Reuben really wants to. Brr, I say. Even indoors. But, my life is rarely about me (ever feel like that?) so to the pool we go.
...was supposed to be a day off school to honor our presidents, but alas, Peter and his fellow classmates had to go to school to make up for a snow day last month.
...is sunny but still cold, which is really sad for the youngest in our family. He desperately wants to go out and play, but I am not ready to stand patrol. Too cold, Charlie. It's too cold. Don't let the sunshine fool you.
...Paul did our taxes. He's wonderful. But, we cannot submit them until the tax people or immigration people or whomever I sent our application to, sends us a Temporary Tax Identification Number for Charlie. Six to eight weeks. But we're ready.
...we are having pork and venison tenderloins for dinner. Locally hunted deer by a friend. Not sure where the pig lived. But yum. I cooked them in the crock pot yesterday with sliced onions and cream of mushroom soup. Over rice, with a salad nearby dressed with a sesame oil vinaigrette from Southern Living's cookbook. I'd invite you, but (1) it's leftovers and (2) I don't have enough. Sorry.
That's what's going on today. Time to go get Peter and start the afternoon routine of homework, dinner prep, and today, swimming!
